Let's Get Lucky!

I'm feeling lucky this week. I've just released my first self-published book after a few series with a great publisher. It was a big risk but I felt a connection to the book, well mostly the characters, that made it hard for me to give up any control. So, after months of preparation and with only one major complication, Hold My Hand was released on April Fools Day! And its been a whirlwind ever since!

I'm in the middle of the Release Tour - CLICK HERE to see the blog tour stops. There's a new excerpt every day, a question of the day and a free ebook given away every day. It's like a 2-week party. Plus, there's a grand prize of an autographed paperback copy of Hold My Hand. Seriously, it'd be just wrong not to enter.

Aubrey would say she's lucky too... lucky to meet William... but William would say he's lucky to meet her...
The book is written in Aubrey's voice, exclusively from her point of view. After speculation over William's motives, I began considering sharing William's perspective on their first meeting. Here is an unedited portion of William's side of the story. Enjoy!

When I first saw her, she ensnared me. She’d tell a different story, I’m sure. She believes I ensnared her but I know the truth. She couldn’t have a stronger hold on me if I were chained to her with heavy metal links strung over my limbs. She touched my heart with her very first glance in my direction, with those haunted eyes, and with her hopeful smile. My sweet Aubrey.
I’d been watching her for months now. Each day I was in town, I went out of my way to stop by the coffee shop where she worked. She’d watch me from under those thick lashes, her kitten green eyes carefully hidden. I wasn’t graced with a touch until the day she wasn’t there to make my coffee. I wondered where she was and just as I stepped out of the coffee shop door, Aubrey walked directly into me.
She was distracted, rushing and on the phone with someone. The moment our bodies collided, I felt that rush of electricity. Yes, she was most definitely the one. My need to have her multiplied. She stuttered out an apology but I couldn’t care less about the stain on my shirt. I simply took her in, as she stood closer to me than ever before.
Then she offered the one thing I’d prayed for. “I’m so sorry,” she said. “What can I do to help? I’ll do anything.”
I grinned, immensely pleased by my luck. Of course, Aubrey was referring to assisting me with the spill but I seized the opportunity. “Dinner.”
Her response was even better than her offer. “Yes sir,” she stuttered, obviously surprised by what I’d requested. I couldn’t hold back the smile that split my face. Yes, I had her now and I had big plans for the two of us.

Hold My Hand

Aubrey has been hurt in the past, discouraged and degraded by a heartless father. Still, William sees something in her that won't allow him to walk away. Instantly drawn to her but intuitive enough to take it slowly, he courts her. Then he bargains, persuades and seduces until he ensnares Aubrey with his commanding nature. He’s everything she ever needed but never had the courage to want for. Despite the fight she puts up in accepting William's lifestyle, the bonds he places on Aubrey give her a freedom she desperately needs. Together, they heal old wounds and find their perfect love.

  13. After reading the excerpt, I would say the Kitten's name has to hold a special meaning. Like Promise, Hope, Faith, or freedom.

  14. Paloma...yummy scene, loved hearing it from the male POV;) I like Nikki's choices for the reason she mentions...but I could picture me naming a new kitty after a Lion King character, like Musafa or Nala...and my favorite kitty names (because they are mine - Crocks and Izzy.

  17. Hmm... a kitten? Kind of depends on the personality! Buttercup? Demon Spawn? Grumpy Kit? Not sure what would fit best!
